Scotland’s Food Trail - Grampian is delighted to welcome four new partners for its fourth year of publication.
Joining this year are the Raemoir House Hotel, 2011 winners of the Scottish Country Hotel of the Year. The hotel provides everything from Morning Coffee through to fabulous A La Carte dining seven days a week with Sunday Lunches being a popular speciality. The Olive Tree Cafe at Logie steading is set in the stunning location above the River Findhorn and offers a wide range of freshly prepared food sourced locally with vegan and vegetarian options available as well as gluten free cakes.
The Beechtree at Moray College is one of Scotland’s premier, fully licensed training facilities offering high quality dishes prepared and served by the students under the watchful eye of their experienced lecturers. The Barn Bistro at Greenfields is a converted and modernised barn steading completed to the highest standard. They offer a wide range of exciting dishes in a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful country views situated only 250 yards from the A96.
As well as becoming new partners of the trail, both The Beechtree and The Barn Bistro were this year’s sponsors of Zwolle Culinair, a networking platform for the hospitality industry between Moray and the Netherlands. Zwolle Culinair is an annual food festival and reciprocal visits are made during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. It is an initiative formed by Moray Chamber of Commerce bringing together practitioners, policy makers and scholars in the Netherlands, Moray and the North East with an interest in food and drink.
This year, Scotland’s Food trail consists of 18 partners - The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, The Milton Restaurant, Raemoir House Hotel, Tannochbrae Guest House, Restaurant & Whisky Bar, The Craigellachie Hotel, The Mash Tun, Walkers Shortbread Ltd, The Olive Tree Café, Brodie Countryfare, The Beechtree, Johnstons of Elgin, The Barn Bistro, Baxters Highland Village, The Inn at Heath Hill, Eat on the Green, Meldrum House Country Hotel & Golf Course, Gadies Restaurant at Touched By Scotland and The Craighaar Hotel. The trail will take you through some of the most spectacular views in the Grampian area from Royal Deeside to the banks of the River Spey and beyond.
Richard Lochhead MSP Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment endorsed this year’s publication of the trail commenting “Scotland produces some of the finest food and drink in the world, from our quality beef, pork and lamb to our supreme fish and seafood. I therefore warmly support any initiatives promoting the very best of what our abundant natural larder has to offer, particularly on my own doorstep in Moray. I am confident that food initiatives such as the Grampian Trail will help further cement Scotland’s well deserved reputation as a land of food and drink."
The trail is entirely self-funded by the partners themselves and this year Moray Chamber of Commerce has taken on the role of operations partner.
